The Toyota Production System, or TPS, is an integrated lean manufacturing system, developed by Toyota, that institutes its management philosophy and practices. A practice that was originally called “Just-in-Time Production” was inspired by W. Edward Deming and Henry Ford.
The goal of the TPS system is to design out overburden and inconsistency, and eliminate waste. This is accomplished by designing a process that is capable of delivering the required results smoothly and with flexibility.
Toyota Production System (TPS) Principals
- Continuous Improvement (Challenge, Kaizen, Genchi Genbutsu, Kanban)
- Respect for people
- Long-term philosophy
- The right process will produce the right results
- Add value to the organization by developing your people and your partners
- Continuously solving root problems drives organizational learning
Results: Reduce lead time and cost using the TPS while improving quality
